Assistant Manager Description
The assistant store manager is responsible for helping lead all team members in the efficient and profitable operation of a Foster Coffee Company store, as well as maintaining a positive impact on the local community. They are responsible for helping manage the day-to-day store operations and maintaining high store standards and conditions. They ensure a positive store environment and experience, which provides consistent, efficient, and excellent customer service. They also ensure a positive work environment that challenges and equips our team members to excel in the coffee industry and in pursuing their individual passions. The assistant manager is an ambassador for fostering community through coffee by maintaining the tone and personality of the store environment.
Works with manager to executes sales and profit plans that are in-line with budgetary goals.
Ensures and is accountable for controlling costs of goods, inventory levels, labor, supplies and expenses.
Ensures proper team member coverage, scheduling according to the needs of business while maintaining target labor costs.
Oversees majority of cash and bank deposit functions. Able to perform all POS duties, front and back of house functions including opening and closing procedures, coordinating with the Foster management as necessary.
Maintains proper loss prevention standards, reviewing cash handling procedures, deposits and safe procedures.
Maintains a clean well-merchandised store, following visual presentation plans and standards.
Works with manager to executes and communicate all sales promotions and new product information effectively and efficiently.
Helps identifies staffing, recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and training needs of qualified candidates. Facilitates on-going training and development of current staff.
Promotes and practices safe work habits, identifying and resolving potential safety hazards, operational inconsistencies, and any team member or customer incidents. Conducts monthly safety meetings ensuring team member compliance in all safety and local healthcode initiatives.
Works with manager to execute plans and events that foster community.
Networks with community leaders to identify new opportunities for partnerships with local businesses and nonprofit organizations.
Ensure successful Foster-run community events in and outside of the store.
Is a role model for outstanding hospitality and helps set the tone of hospitality culture at his/her store.
Proactive in solving customer problems and satisfying customers in various situations.
Ensures that all team members are committed to and demonstrate our guiding principles.
Ensures that all team members provide customers with efficient, friendly, superior hospitality on a consistent basis.
Consistently monitors, coaches and encourages team members to meet Foster’s hospitality standards.
Assesses and provides adequate staffing to provide efficient and friendly, superior hospitality.
Maintains high cleanliness standards consistently throughout the store in the areas of store appearance, merchandise and equipment.
Ensures that all company drink recipes and procedures are followed, maintaining the highest quality and consistent product standards.
Ensures that all company food offerings maintain the highest quality.
Ensures that all team members are educated on our products and services, by developing an understanding of our various types of coffee, tea products, blends and roasts, as well as knowledge of coffee and tea regions, and the various differences in flavor and blends.
Tastes drink and food products on a regular basis for quality assurance.
Training & Development
Supports training and development to all team members in the areas of operating standards, hospitality, and product knowledge.
Demonstrates the ability to lead, effectively communicate, and champion Foster Coffee Company guiding principles and standard operating procedures
Builds morale and team spirit by fostering a work environment where team members input is encouraged and valued.
Ensures each team member has received proper training to perform their position efficiently.
Works with manager to develop team members, establishing specific performance objectives, and regularly measuring performance.
Works with manager to coach and counsel team members for improved performance, documenting developmental plans as necessary.
2+ years experience in the coffee and/or food industry.
Ability to work well under pressure and changing conditions
High attention to detail
3 references from non-family members
Strong communication skills (you can write and speak professionally)
Apple OS proficiency (we mainly use Apple work computers & devices)
